Communications Director 

Job Description 

The Communications Director is responsible for owning and leading the long-term communications and digital strategy of Hope Church. This role sets the vision for how Hope communicates across all platforms, ensuring alignment with the church’s mission, vision, and goals. This role will serve as the supervisor of all members on the communication team and reports to the Lead Pastor. 

Responsibilities 

Communications Strategy & Planning 

• Own and implement the long-term communications vision and strategy for Hope Church, aligned with the mission, vision, and outlined goals. 

• Ensure all communications have a consistent brand voice, and reinforce Hope Church’s mission, values, and brand. 

• Lead the development of a comprehensive communications strategy, including audience segmentation, channel prioritization, and messaging development. 

• Oversee a centralized communications calendar that aligns ministries, seasons, campaigns, and churchwide initiatives. 

Digital Strategy Oversight 

• Oversee Hope Church’s digital strategy, including website, email, social platforms, online engagement tools, and future digital initiatives. 

• Define what success looks like across all digital platforms, establishing clear metrics, goals, and outcomes. 

• Ensure the customer’s digital journey is intuitive, mission-aligned, and designed to move people toward engagement and next steps. 

Team & Project Management 

• Lead, coach, and develop the Communications staff to develop strategic leaders in their respective areas. 

• Help all staff members develop and implement volunteer coaches to lead key areas of communications. 

• Ensure the communication team is aligned on priorities, timelines, and strategic outcomes. 

• Establish and own systems that allow the communications department to manage projects efficiently and strategically. 

• Assist ministries in clarifying goals, audiences, and desired outcomes to provide the proper communications recommendations and deliverables. 


Partner & Vendor Management 

• Identify when external partnerships are needed to support strategic initiatives beyond internal capacity. 

• Oversee the scope of work and performance of external partners such as designers, videographers, printers, and digital vendors. 

Qualifications 

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, or a similar field. 

• 3 – 5 years of experience in marketing, communications, or related field. 

• Experience managing and leading a team is ideal. 

• Detailed knowledge, agreement, and adherence to the Hope Church mission, vision, and values.
